This is a one of a kind piece of wearable art made for the Five and Diamond Eighth Annual Headgear Art Show and shown on June 12, 2020.
A white, feathery, angelic face mask which frames the eyes and forehead of the wearer in rhythmic flowing spines. Named for the Watchers of Biblical Apocrypha and occult poetic tradition, the "illustrious fallen angels" of Eliphas Levi's writings, which have in contemporary hermeticism been reinterpreted and redefined as group thoughtforms; entities willed or summoned into existence through shared and sustained collective belief. The Egregores are designer deities; otherworldly consciousnesses birthed from the shared fixations of human minds.
MATERIALS USED
Hand-cut rubber exterior, aluminum armature internal.
WEARING INSTRUCTIONS
Worn across the front of the face as a mask, with the outermost curved sections tucked behind the ears, similar to the straps on a medical face mask, or can be worn atop the head in a crown or tiara configuration. Please refer to images for illustration of how to wear. Aluminum understructure may be gently reshaped to fit the individual wearer.
